This wasn't my favorite entry in the series. I remember feeling like the last one felt like half a book, so I was a bit surprised that everything felt like it came to a dead halt in this book. Also the time jumping was annoying, I find it a bit of a cheat in a mystery to be like "aha let's go back in time and reveal this information that our characters already knew and are actively hiding from the reader". But even so I thought it was a bit obvious who the murderer was? And just so many coincidences of people on this ship. Yes some of them have in story reasons but it felt like a lot.

I did like the Arcrights and found
Jacob's death to be such a bummer, but I guess that's better than not caring about the victim. When Willa was telling how her brother instead of getting angry said that he would spend the rest of his life trying to make up to her what she'd had to do, I legit teared up.
.

It took a long time for the murder to actually happen, and while Mrs. Ramsay was a lot of fun, I was both skeptical of the ability of such makeup to stand up to constant, close-up, in-person scrutiny and found it made Charlotte a bit of a nonplayer.

Olivia finally telling off her mother might be my favorite moment of the whole book.

Anyway, yeah, it was okay. I'm not going to stop with this series but I was a little disappointed.

Trigger warnings: violence, death, manipulation, grief

I wrote a whole review for this book a month ago, I swear I did, but for some reason it is gone. Wtf Goodreads?! I don't remember the exact details of what I wrote, but I do know that I love this series and I loved this installment. I found the mystery within this particular book to be extremely compelling and unexpected. I love how, despite how simple it seems, it actually kind of turns the whole series on its head. I love the new characters introduced, I love the old characters, I am OBSESSED with Charlotte and her man and everything about this book. I swear I was more detailed and eloquent a month ago, but this is what it is now. Read this series and this book!
