I found this book deep and complex. The art is incredible. I loved the connections between the stories. It highlights the possibilities behind hope and second chances.

The end was rushed, but overall I liked the style and story. The concept was compelling and the way the fable was worked into the main storyline was well done and interesting. 3.5 if I could.

Haven’t stopped thinking about those last 50 pages since I read them last night. A beautifully-illustrated and down-to-earth tale about the paradox of living at peace in this world.

The drawing in this is stunning. Great detail and sense of depth -- well designed characters, places, details of objects. Really gorgeous and fun to look at. At first, I also really enjoyed the story: Nao is a half-Japanese woman trying to make her way in London but struggling with intrusive thoughts due to OCD. However, I felt the plot fell apart towards the end. The author raises many different elements -- OCD, Buddhism, alcoholism, brain trauma -- but doesn't explore any of them in enough depth, which makes what could have been an excellent graphic novel feel shallow.

Surreal in the best possible way.

Buddhist philosophy has never appealed to me, but The Nao of Brown made me rethink my aversion. A messy, lifelike story with big beautiful colorful watercolor pages. I also really liked the even more surreal/mythic side-story.

Eh??? I feel like the writer fetishizes Nao's Japanese-ness. The main love interest is also a douche.

The illustration is wonderful. The facial expressions and coloring are so well done.

Ilustracije su prekrasne, no priča je pomalo kaotična i konfuzna. Nisu mi se svidjeli likovi kao ni kraj priče
Spoiler jer je sve prikazano kao divno i krasno čim je dijete došlo u igru
