This was a funish read. I found myself slogging through the second half of the book but I did liked enoughcharacters. I just hoped the story would have been a bit more exciting. But that's a personal preference. I think a lot of people will probably enjoy this book.

This was an enthralling read, combining action, adventure, contemporary themes, and elements of fantasy and the supernatural. Set in a small Vermont town, the story follows Miguela Angeles, a teenager who becomes captivated by a mysterious boy named Sam, only to discover that their relationship is anything but ordinary.

From the very first chapter, I was completely drawn into the unique plot, compelling writing style, and well-developed characters. Mica is a relatable main character who is tired of her mundane life and eager for something more. When she meets Sam, her world takes a thrilling turn, but as strange events and horrifying visions unfold, Mica realizes that her relationship with Sam is far from what it seems.

The author skillfully weaves together elements of horror, paranormal activity, and themes of self-discovery. The story keeps readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly turning the pages to uncover the truth behind Sam's origins and the consequences of Mica's involvement with him.

The author's vivid descriptions and engaging storytelling make it easy to immerse oneself in Mica's journey. I found myself rooting for her, even as she faced difficult choices and the potential loss of everything she holds dear. The writing style is both captivating and accessible, making it an enjoyable read.

One aspect that stood out to me was the exploration of heritage and identity. Mica's journey involves uncovering secrets about her own background, which adds depth to her character and the overall plot. The inclusion of supernatural elements and the themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery make this book resonate on a deeper level.

(I will admit, there’s a small part in me that wished she had ended up with Sam. He was charming for all the wrong reasons, but I couldn’t help but fall for him too.)

Worth the read!
