A lovely change of pace to the relentless Christmas stories at this time of year.

Kate has just received her decree nisi after her childhood sweetheart left her. Determined to drag herself out of the pit of despair she has been wallowing in, she decides to indulge herself with some of the things that her ex-husband Matt wouldn't do. A trip abroad to Rome is top of the list.

Through a series of random events she meets an American, Jamie, in Rome on business and an Italian policeman Allesandro. As Kate wanders the historic city seeing all the famous sights she navigates pickpockets, jealous brothers, wedding dresses and an awful lot of pastries for breakfast. But can a holiday romance last when she returns home to Manchester.

Although Tilly Tennant's name is familiar I don't think I've ever read one of her books before. I would say this falls very firmly into a specific genre of novels about English women, either recently divorced or widowed, with messy family lives who find new love - by authors such as [a:Sue Moorcroft|862993|Sue Moorcroft|http://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1430833288p2/862993.jpg].

Kate, Jamie and Alessandro were all engaging characters, I liked that Kate was a Mancunian - it makes a change from everyone coming from London or somewhere like the Cotswolds.

Recommended for people who like gentle contemporary English romances but fancy a change of scenery, or anyone who liked the holiday parts of Shirley Valentine.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Bumped for release.

The title of this book is what grabbed me immediately. I am a sucker for Italian contemporary romance!

One of my favorite things about this author is her writing style. Tilly Tennant did a beautiful job with the writing of this novel. Everything flowed so amazingly and made sense the whole way through. The drama in the beginning was so heart-felt that a few pages in, I was ready to grab tissues.

Next, the characters were great. They all had their own individuality and it was very awesome to see that. The sisters in this book were very funny as well. I have a sibling and I am definitely a worrier, but also pretty laid back. It was awesome to be able to connect to Kate's sisters.

Lastly, the ending was great. I was extremely happy to see everything at the end. I felt like it left out somethings, but now there is a sequel!! Very, very excited to read to see what happens!

This book will transport you to Rome amidst this lockdown giving you an experience of refreshing holiday.

Kate is dumped by her husband after they were together for almost 20 years being childhood sweethearts. To escape from her world which is causing pain she books a vacation to Rome. The plan she had of her own are turned upside down as soon as she arrives. Now where it takes her is for you to find out.

The characters in the book are wonderful and likable from which Jamie definitely tops my list. I adored him. The relationship and connection between sisters is expressed beautifully. As for Alessandro he is local police officer who is sexy as you would picture an Italian man and his family, well they are great in their own way.

Tilly's writing style is smooth and easy going. She makes us explore the chance of finding love again. This book was funny, enjoyable with romance, friendship, some mystery and chance of a new life. Through this book Tilly Tennant talks about hope, happiness and things that will leave your heart warm.

This is the first in the series and I would recommend it for anyone wanting to escape reality with a sweet book.

Another lovely book from Tilly Tennant. The perfect summer read and has made me really want to visit Rome. Tilly has managed to describe the buildings and the areas so well that I felt I was right there with the characters.
If you’re looking for a light fluffy read then why not give this a chance

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this book! I have binged a bit on crime/police procedural novels so I needed some pleasant escapism - and Rome is Where the Heart is gave me that in bucket loads. I was first introduced to Tennant's writing with The Little Village Bakery and this book continues with the same wonderful, warm writing with likeable characters.
Kate has been cruelly dumped by her husband on Friday the 13th, Matt is all she has ever known as they were best friends and childhood sweethearts so this is particularly tough on Kate. Upon the finalisation of the divorce, Kate decides to do something crazy and out of character so books a week away to Rome....alone! As soon as she arrives in Italy, Kate meets Jamie who saves her from being swindled by a taxi driver. Jamie is on a business trip from America and they quickly form a friendship. I adored Jamie, everyone needs a Jamie in their lives!!

I won't spoil how it happens but Kate later also meets the charming and terribly good-looking Alessandro who makes her begin to believe that there is life after Matt....even if it's only for a few days whilst living the dream in Italy.

Rome is Where the Heart is has made me want to visit Rome (even more than I did before) and is pure escapism, the romance of potentially finding the love of your life during a chance meeting in a foreign country is wonderful. I just couldn't put it down. I loved Kate, Jamie and Alessandro - these characters soon begin to feel like your friends. This book explores finding love again and family bonds as Kate's sisters are fiercely protective over her...as are Alessandro's five sisters and the head of the family, Signora Conti.

I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately moved onto the second book in the 'From Italy with love' series, A Wedding in Italy and it's not often that I will read books from the same series back to back - but I just had to find out what happens with Kate, Alessandro and Jamie. Look out for my review of book 2!

This is a cute read, that follows Kate, a recent divorcee who goes to Rome to have a little bit of an adventure. On her trip she meets some interesting characters and ends up falling in love.

It is an easy listen on audiobook and I got this on Libby app. I feels a little like chick lit at times and definitely borders romance and chick lit as parts of the story take place away from Rome and show the realistic parts of a long distance relationship and the family drama that comes from your sister wanting to up and move to Rome with a mysterious stranger.

Cute 3*.

This was my first Tilly Tennant novel and I can assure you it won't be the last. I've always been a sucker for chick lit in picturesque locations, so when I saw this one I knew I had to read it.
Meet Kate, a 30 yo, dumped by her husband of twelve years on Friday 13th. After the initial shock she decides enough is enough and takes a plane to Rome, where she discovers new friends, a new love, and most important of all, a new Kate.
This is a lovely feel-good story that transports you to Rome, and makes you feel as if you're discovering the city for the first time with Kate.
