I have been waiting for Ian's book for years!! I loved the Cat and Bones series and wanted Ian to get his HEA too and Jeaniene did not disappoint. Such a good book, I can't wait to see what happens when Ian catches up to Veritas again.

I don't know what took me so long to read this book. Having read Frost's Night Huntress series multiple times along with the spinoffs, I, like many others, was highly anticipating Ian getting his own story. But when Shades of Wicked came out I didn't jump at starting it. And then it got pushed further and further down my TBR pile.

Well, once I finally began the book, I didn't want to stop. It brought me back to what it is I love about Jeaniene Frost in that I want to live and breathe the stories.

Frost really does Ian justice in the first of his series. Law Guardian Veritas - whom long-time readers will recognize from the brief glimpses of her character throughout the Night Huntress world - is the perfect match for him. She's been alive long enough to know her own mind, but she's also very vulnerable and kind.

Together they're in the search for the demon Dagon who has marked Ian's soul and with whom Veritas has a mysterious score to settle. At first it's posed as an opposites-attract with a tinge of enemies-to-lovers thrown in, but the best part is seeing Ian and Veritas reveal parts of themselves to each other that they've never shown anyone else - for Ian this means not even Bones or Mencheres. And possibly learning that they're not as different as they previous thought.

I absolutely loved this story, and I remember what it is about this world that Jeaniene Frost created that I recommend so much to those who are looking for a vampire romance. Ian's book will not disappoint those who have been waiting for it for, literally, years.

On the other hand, I'm a little happy I waited because now I get to jump right into [b:Wicked Bite|41798737|Wicked Bite (Night Rebel, #2)|Jeaniene Frost|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1545051040l/41798737._SY75_.jpg|65218999]. And with the emotional way Frost decided to leave things in Shades of Wicked, I'm happy there is no wait to see Ian back at it again.

O KADAR GÜZELDİ Kİİİİİİİİ!!!!! Galiba Jeaniene'in yazdığı en iyi kitaplardan biri olabilir, çünkü BAYILDIM!!

Ian and Veritas story.

Ian is funny, Veritas is a badass- but a little hard to relate. I’m not sure about this one. I’ll hold a rating until the series is complete.

Now, that was silly. I guess I'll be reading the next one as well.

ian is my favorite character from the original series, but somehow he isn’t as good in his own series (i had the same problem with vlad tbh).
also: why bother making ian canonically queer, when we don’t really get to see it? like yeah, we see him being flirty with some dudes, but that’s it. i personally always head-canoned him as bi/pan (idk maybe it was canon from the beginning but i don’t think it was explicitly stated before ‘shades of wicked’) and also kinda wished he would have ended up with a man instead.
anyways…of course i’m still going to finish this series.

edit: of course him having a female love interest, doesn’t make him less queer, but tbh the lgbtq+ rep in frost’s books isn’t great, so i was kinda hoping for more. i also don’t dislike veritas but idk i was always secretly hoping that theo (if that is is his name lmao) would be ian’s love interest.
(also: for some reason i always thought she looked very young, like teenager-young, but i might be confusing things since it has been a while since i read “destiny for an early grave”)
