It was amazing. This and book 3 are definitely my favorites. Smiley is 100% the best character in every way. He practical and keeps the peace and is just so gentle and sweet. It really annoys me how one protagonist was like "oH iM sO sKePtIcAl" and now she's like "I know everything." Like when did that switch happen?? All the best characters were at the forefront and I really think that made it what it was. Solid 5/5

Maybe it's because I read it in chunks several weeks apart, but there was a lot of this book that seemed kind of disjointed. Maybe it'll come together and the ghost circles will be relevant, but mostly this is a Walking Fantasy, which is not always my favorite genre.

Bone series, book 7.

The Bones' epic adventure continues with an explosion that lays waste the valley and unleashes a great evil. A familiar character dies and the survivors struggle to cross the barren wasteland filled with dangerous ghost circles. On the other side is Atheia, the old city of the royal family, where they hope to find help and safety.

2015 reread? I started to doubt if I actually ever finished this series way back in the day, but I do remember a piece of Vols 8 & 9, so I guess I did? Hmm. Anywho.

Life as we know it has ended, so many are dead, and you cease to exist if you touch the invisible circles that cover the valley. Let's take a walk.
