A movie is filming on Rachel's street and she realizes that her favorite actress is in the starring role. She sneaks onto the movie set, and...

Really enjoyed this read. The characters were well formed and likeable, and their interactions believable. Some angst, but well balanced as to never be melodramatic. A beautiful love story of people finding each other through strange circumstance.
Very fun, though I must admit to shedding a few tears.
Read it!

This was an incredibly sweet romance between an older actress and a life-long fan. The book really was electric right from the beginning. We got thrown straight into the story headfirst, and got to know both of our main characters pretty fast. This definitely added to the addictive nature of the book, I really could not put it down.

Rachel came home a a camping trip to find that a movie was filming right out side, little did she know it was a movie about famous scientist Marie Curie featuring her long time celebrity crush, Cate Whitney. After an impromptu meeting, Rachel agrees to help Cate get into her character by sharing her scientific knowledge, although she definitely has an ulterior motive for the help. This is such a fantasy read of what would happen if you could meet and fall in love with your celebrity crush. There were lots of fun shenanigans which gave Rachel and Cate plenty of time to bond. Their chemistry and subtle flirtation was absolutely everything to me in the first half of the novel, and their relationship felt very genuine.

Although this was light-hearted overall, it did also explore the downside of fame and a more general fear of vulnerability in a relationship. I think this conflict added to the overall character building and tension between Cate and Rachel, and was quite interesting to read in terms of thinking about the behind-the-scenes of major celebrity romances.

My only criticism would be that the book felt a little rushed, especially towards the end. I think the first half of the book was amazing, but some of the momentum seemed to really taper off towards the end. I wanted the ending and the relationship to be a little more drawn out, even if it was just to get to see our characters together for a little bit longer.

Than you to YLVA publishing for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

A difficult book to get into for me. I liked both of the main characters, but felt the writing and pacing was clunky. I didn't expect a realistic portrayal of the impact of a Cate Blanchett-esque celebrity coming out by dating a younger women, but felt like the attempt to critique privacy issues on two different scales fell flat, when
SpoilerRachel literally breaks into the set to meet Cate in the first place.
I wasn't at all invested in their relationship. All of the side characters fell flat and the drama didn't seem to matter in the grand scheme of things. The lesbian innuendos were forced and juvenile, and the book felt like it was trying very, very hard not to offend anyone, which made for a very boring and simple story.

What a lovely story. So many important elements of queer romance well represented on the wonderful backdrop of Vancouver and the surrounding area. Some great examples of how communication can improve a lot of relationship issues. Loved Rachel’s roommate and hated Cate’s ex.
