CW cheating, bullying, jealous and manipulative ex
⭐ Celebrity romance
⭐ Age gap
🌈 Lesbian MC
🌈 Queer MC
Celebrity romances can be pretty hit and miss, especially as we usually end up swept up in wannabe groupies and miscommunication. This, however, didn't fit in with that vibe. A delightful WLW romance, with just enough angst and conflict to give the anxious will-they-survive-this experience we all know and love.
Amidst falling in love we have one FMC dealing with betrayal and trust issues and the other FMC dealing with leftover trauma from childhood bullying, and being the test subject for other people's sexuality.

Thank you to Tiana Warner for sending this book in exchange for an honest review!
Where do I start? A bit of a backstory: Tiana Warner is one of my favourite authors. The Mermaids of Eriana Kwai was one of the first sapphic fantasy series I ever read back in 2015, so it’s safe to say that anything Tiana writes has a special place in my heart. When I saw that she was releasing an adult romance… my heart stopped. And this book did not disappoint! Throughout this story, Tiana writes sweet, romantic moments perfectly complimented by the meaningful, sometimes gut wrenching themes. What an entrance into the adult romance genre!
This sapphic age gap romance between a scientist and a famous actress was exactly what I wanted. We follow Rachel as she navigates her masters program whilst recovering from one too many broken hearts. Across the street is Cate, an actress recovering from a messy divorce. Together, they explore the city that Rachel is in love with, whilst slowly falling in love with each other. The chemistry between these two characters was everything I needed in a romance. The coverage of how traumatic it can be coming out, the lack of privacy afforded to celebrities and how queer celebrities are treated compared to straight celebrities was handled with such care by Tiana, it was really beautiful to read about. The whole way through, I was chanting in my head please work this out in therapy, you need therapy, this self talking isn’t healthy, etc. and then Tiana seamlessly fits in a plot point where Rachel advocates for herself and is self reflective enough to go into therapy. Beautiful, chef’s kiss, we love to see it! These sensitive topics can be hard to talk about but they’re all written really well.
The only improvement I could think of for this would be in reference to the presence and role of poc characters. Both of the main characters are white, with most of the secondary characters being white too. We do have a Black secondary character who is Cate’s assistant but he isn’t significant to our plot. Please correct me if I’m wrong and I’ve missed someone!
Overall, this is a fantastic story about love, but it is so much more than that! This is a story about finding and standing up for yourself, being kind to yourself and healing from your past. I beg you to read this!
