I read a Highlander for Hannah a while back, and the main reason I did not jump into Spotlight in Poppy is since I was upset that Josh was Hannah’s ex and now Poppy’s love interest. Friends sharing exs never really sit right with me. However I was able to look past that, especially since Hannah and Josh were more of a summer fling and give the book a try. And I’m so glad I did!

I love love loved the musicial thearter moments, honestly it lowkey makes me want to do community thearte. And I really appreciated how Josh was a normal guy! Who works several jobs and is kind and loves his community but is down to earth. So much in romance novels the guy is a millionaire, athletic, or some sort of supernatural creature, and don’t get me wrong I love those too. But it was refreshing for an average Joe to be the love interest!

When I was reading the book on the train I had to hold in a gasp when Josh purposed at the end of the book, did not see that coming but that it was so cute and made sense for this couple since they had know each other forever. I don’t think other Mary Warren books had a big time jump at the, end and I thought that was so sweet. I wonder if we will ever get to learn more about Hannah Son and Poppy’s daughters love story? Maybe a short story one day?

I was also really inspired by the spicy bits in this book! So far I think it has the best smexy scenes out of any of Warrens books.

Overall I think this is my new favorite Marry Warren book, but Connor is still my favorite love interest!

I enjoyed this one just as much as the previous book but maybe related more to Poppy as a character. Her own journey with a magic love spell in Mystic Falls seems to bring her a handsome Broadway star to town, all while Josh, the town good guy who helps everyone and has loved her for years, watches from the wings. Decent fat rep in this one again, and we get to know more of the characters in the small town itself, which is always fun. Plus, they put on a musical!

This was sooooo good :’) The writing can always be tightened and I think the author’s style and voice will keep getting better with each of her books. The characters are just so IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL TO ME NO ONE LOOK AT ME CRY OVER JOSH AND POPPY’S HAPPINESS.
