DNF

Another book I only just made it to the 100 pages mark with. There is far too much going on here. The language is cluttered and the storytelling lacks any kind of direction. Characters just seem to magically know things, nothing is explained and the language is clunky.

I had to DNF this one. A nonsensical plot with flat characters that goes too fast for it's own good. It has really repetetive language; within the first two chapters she'd already made several inanimate objects pregnant with various concepts. I've DNF'd books before, but they've never been as unreadable as this.

This reads more like a video game than a book: a lot of linear movement without much meaning behind what is going on. Wasn't something I looked forward to reading since no matter how much time I spent the plot never made much sense and we weren't with the characters enough for their behaviors to make much sense or be sympathetic.

a gruesome, heartbreaking tale of cosmic terror. one of the best i’ve read from piper. had a slow start but really picked up right around the one-third mark, and was wild twist and turn one after the next from then on.

I was a hundred pages into this book when I really considering DNF-ing it because I was Not enjoying anything about it. The pacing was oddly slow, I didn’t have any interest in the characters. However a little way into the second act is when the story really begins to pick up and there are more layers to these characters than surface.
The descriptions can get pretty wild and abstract and while I struggled with this book, the author did a great job painting some pretty bizarre visuals. I’m glad i stuck it out but I can’t really say that I Loved this book either.

I think I could have liked where the story ultimately ended up, but there was something just too amorphous about the writing that both makes sense to the story, but is incredibly hard to conceptualize. There were moments I enjoyed that propelled me through the book, but overall it was not for me.
