I liked Expecting Better more, but if you liked that I recommend this also. Love to see more Reasonable approaches to parenting books vs espousing one philosophy over another without data to back it up.

I think I was expecting more data, but it feels like the conclusion is, "whatever works for your family is probably best".

In general it seems like linking cause (and not just correlation) in parenting is super tricky as there are too many variables you can't control. Some of the few things with better data: read out loud (more words = wider vocab), don't hit, spend their first year with a primary caregiver, breastfeed if you can.

I’ve read about half of the book through different chapters of my babies life! This is a good book if you love data, very cut and dry

I like this author because she just breaks down all the options and their facts. I know nothing about pregnancy and birth and all that so she’s a nice place to start to make decisions and then you can dive deeper if you want.

Be prepared for some horrifying facts about birth in this one though. RIP my vagina.

I read the audio version of this book. I like the approachable way Emily Oster presents the different options of having and raising a child. It seems like a rational and nonjudgmental place to start research. I would read this again when I actually am expecting.

Data driven. I am a big fan of her
