I haven't read the original story but I'm glad S.D. Simper trusted herself to write this tale because I adored it!
The romance is poetic, almost ethereal, and I'm always drawn to this kind of fantasy and all its flowery! The short number of pages allowed Laura's inner struggles to be convincing without going back and forth multiple times as it often happens with stories of the kind.
My only small complaint is that I wished the "final battle" had been a bit longer, but it's nothing that tarnishes the beauty of the tale. This is vampire romance done right! Now I must go and read the original Carmilla story!

I love the original Carmilla story and this one just as much. I love the alternative narrative from Laura's point of view and the focus on their relationship. The book is so poetically written. beautiful. A mixture of love, guilt and heartbreak. just perfectly written, I love the poetry in her writing style wow. I rarely give 5/5☆ but this is one!

Qué atmosférico y cómo rezuma un gran conocimiento y aprecio por la obra original este retelling! Me lo he leído dosificadamente porque es una delicia demasiado efímera ( tiene las páginas justas que necesita la autora para explicarnos su visión, pero aún así me he quedado con ganas de más).
