I almost quit the book when it was 6-8 chapters in before the big event that set off the rest of the plot was revealed. Overall, I found the pace to be extremely slow and the book to be way too wordy—this book could have been 200 pages shorter. I did appreciate the character development as you felt like you knew each of these people intimately. The narration switched back and forth between third person and first person for the character Cherry, and while I found her to be corny, she did offer some lightheartedness to a plot that lended itself to thinking about heavier topics.

Liane Moriarty weaves multiple threads together in an extraordinary way in this novel.

The premise that almost everyone on a flight receives a prediction of their age and cause of death from a woman none of them had noticed leads to fascinating questions about personality, foreknowledge, destiny vs chance, self fulfilling prophecy, and all the ways in which our relationships with the various people in our lives shape and change us day by day.

Diverse personalities, a multitude of jobs and life experiences interact as characters try to convince themselves they don't believe while also trying to mitigate the chance the prediction will be accurate. With such diversity it is likely that most readers will find someone they resonate with.

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters, hearing some of their back stories, and hoping for good outcomes for them!

126 chapters seems wild, but the pace and character jumping keeps you on rapt with the possible futures of these characters. Really enjoyed this.

I recommend the audio version of this book as the narrators are excellent!

All in all, I found this book to be a bit overly tedious for me. I am just not loving Liane Moriarity as I once did so it may just be me.
