The book was okay, but if the other books like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie haven't already been read, the. This one doesn't really make a lot of sense. This seems to be really stretching out that formula a little far for me. Young fans of the other books will likely still enjoy it though.

Not as good as the moose one, but still fun to read to preschoolers.

This one works better than I wanted it to. The art is very cute. And the cat is fun without being bratty. It does have the feel of an imaginary friend but at least it is a good one. You know where this book is going and it does get there. And I expect it would get tiresome with repeated reads. But not bad. 3.5 of 5.

This is exactly what If You Give a Moose a Muffin isn't: Somewhat disjointed and disconnected. It's middling fun, but it doesn't catch as cleanly as most of Numeroff's other books.

Cute book but I think unrealistic. I don't know of a cat who would go to the beach, too close to the water. But it was cute and who doesn't like a cupcake with sprinkles.

I did not realize before I found this at the library that this was a series of books. We own a copy of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and it is a much loved, oft-repeated story in our house. Maybe that's why I didn't like this one very much. Maybe I started out with some bias. I couldn't help but compare the two stories.

So, in comparison, this one seemed silly and nonsensical whereas Mouse/Cookie was comical. It felt as if the young lady feeding this cat cupcakes (and, for starters, I have it on good authority that few cats would actually eat a cupcake) was dragging out her adventure just to make a book out of it. I mean, what does going to the beach have to do with cupcake sprinkles anyway?

Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

It's okay, but a bit forced and repetitive. The idea of [b:If You Give a Mouse a Cookie|767680|If You Give a Mouse a Cookie|Laura Joffe Numeroff|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1276046901s/767680.jpg|3132746] isn't really material for 20+ books, unless you're trying to squeeze more money out of it.

Okay... so call me old, but I didn't know this one existed. I read it to the kids I babysit, and it's adorable!
