I read this as part of the children's book club I run.

It wasn't exactly as I was expecting, to me the blurb implied the book would be expanding on the myths and legends much more than they did - instead it was much more of a collection of very brief (4-5 pages) of stories. I did like that the stories were not just limited to the more commonly known Greek/Roman myths and legends but covered a huge variety of countries. However I think the book would have worked more as an illustrated version rather than a novel. The length of the stories meant it felt strange to read this chronologically but being my age, I couldn't really use them as bedtime stories...! I think having the illustrations would also have added a lot to some of the less famous stories.
