This is a book of poetry about being a Black gay man with HIV in America. Some of the poems were beautiful and had really clever use of language, but other than a few standouts I felt like a lot of them were very similar to each other.

This week is "read books by authors my friends turned me on to" apparently. I am so glad CJ told me about this poet because every single poem in this book is just incredible. Moving, powerful, passionate, it really takes over me as I'm reading it until I don't particularly want to do anything else but keep reading. It always surprises me to get to the end because I get so swept up I forget I'm reading.

I started annotating this marking poems/paragraphs/sentences I found outstandingly beautiful and quickly  realised I'd be doing a lot (a LOT!) of annotating. 
What a fierce, poignant and relevant read. Highly, highly  recommend.
