I thought it was beautiful. Some poems just weren’t meant for me but that’s okay. I very much felt attached to this book as a gay man.

'every day is a funeral & a miracle' and 'not an elegy' — those poems back-to-back absolutely killed me. I gasped, but it was because I was holding my breath the entire time I was reading them. So good.

Danez Smith I am clapping and not stopping. Look how strong my biceps are. That's how long I've been clapping. Jesus fuck this was wonderful.

Particularly loved:
  • dear white america
  • dinosaurs in the hood
    • funny, witty, poignant, reflective. pop culture and race and film, cast against the background of jurassic park. epic.
