Personally, not a fan of the conversational format but Chen's lively writing makes up for it. The unexpected twist in the middle shifts the tone & energy which makes it much more entertaining!! It made me appreciate how the book ended compared to an expected conventional ending.

A relatively solid 3.25 read for me. I'm not sure if it was better because I listened to the audiobook or if it stood well on its own. There were some moments when I felt I was losing track of the story and zoned out from the narrator, but luckily those few minutes passed quickly at 2x speed.
The story was told mostly as if you are the detective who has detained the main character, Ava, and are asking questions to hear her story of the counterfeit business she was a part of. However, later, the story jumps over to her partner-in-crime's POV and you kind of see what really happened vs. the creative story Ava is telling the detective on how she was kind of forced into participating. I didn't do research on the topic,
