Not as good as the first, but I still loved the deeper dives on all of the characters, the writing is wonderful as always, and the plot is still incredibly engaging. Another banger!

This is a pretty solid follow up to the Raven Boys. I think it does a lot to move our characters forward on their own personal journeys, and it builds upon the established world in some very interesting ways while maintaining the atmosphere and beautiful writing that initially drew me into the first book. Where it runs into a problem is that so much of what makes these books great is in the character interactions and the various relationships (romantic, platonic, and familial), and all of the characters spend the majority of this book distanced from each other, both physically and emotionally. They grow, and that growth will help make the next books better, but it means this book is a bit unsatisfying and very much frustrating.

I am obsessed with how the author writes. Love the concept and execution. Incredible subtle references to Ronan's secret(s). I adore how the author subtly foreshadows things and yet also surprises me constantly.

WHAAAAAAAAT I AM SHOOK I DONT NEED SLEEP I NEED ANSWERS.

Can you believe that the second book was even BETTER than the first one? I COULD NOT put this book down, i devoured almost every page in a single afternoon.

The universe is more explored and we have the revelation that Ronan can bring things out of his dreams. And because of it now i want to lean to speak latin.

Noah does not have that much of protagonism, after all, the main focus is Ronan anyway, but I LOVE him (and the idea of "you can do anything with Noah anyway, he's already dead, is there some thing worse than that? Kiss him, throw him out of the window, who cares?" - yeah i burst out laughing in that scene)

And we are FAAAAR from having things figured out. If possible, the Raven Boys have EVEN MORE problems. The mystery atmosphere is here and tension is starting to get really serious.

As a tarot reader myself I LOVED the use of it in the history. THE MEANINGS ARE CORRECT!!! This 72 cards are not used in a  booooo mystic omg the death card you wil die boooooooooo way, thay are extremely useful and are not "mystified" (?) and/or demonized.

Love love love this book! I'm super excited to read book three!

I really enjoyed getting to know Ronan a little better since the first book really just had him being a moody kid without much reason (aside from his dad being killed). Adam became more unlikeable and volatile as the book went on. His outburst on Blue and his physical reactions were what sealed him as being the worst. The fact that even after telling him she didn’t want to kiss him even knowing she wasn’t in love with him and he kept pushing it? Sorry Adam but you’re going to need to get used to being turned down dude, don’t throw a tantrum. Also, his independence is important to him, I understand, but he’s taking it to the extreme and then getting pissed off at everyone and everything when he isn’t given things. The thoughts he has about his so called best friend just make him sound like a crappy friend.
Blue is fine I guess, this book didn’t do much for her other than a make out session with Noah and proclaiming her feelings to gansey. The grey man was a nice character who really grew on me.
