BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Dani has her dream job in fashion in New York City, but when it explodes in her face, she has no choice but to return home to Charleston to live with her twin brother. Turns out Alex, her ex-boyfriend and stepson to Dani’s former boss, lives with and works for Dani’s brother Isaac. It’s been over a year since the two have seen each other, after Alex left New York without an explanation. But they quickly realize those feelings they’ve both tried so hard to get over are still there.

I read the prequel novella for this series earlier this year (get it free at the link in my bio) and have been so excited to dive into this series. I really enjoyed this book! I’ve been enjoying the second chance trope lately and I loved the spin on this one. One thing I liked about this one is that both Dani and Alex were in the wrong, and they both came to the realization of their mistakes and apologized for them.

I also loved watching Dani and Isaac’s relationship grow. Dani is a flawed character, who sometimes lets her ambitions give her tunnel vision and neglect seeing those around her. I loved that Dani was able to realize this and that she had people in her life point this out to her. We are all flawed. And ambition is not a bad thing. But we shouldn’t let it blind us. A part of me hated that a certain thing didn’t happen in the end, but I loved that it not happening showed real growth for Dani.

This is book 1 and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

❝We wanted different things, dreamed of different things. But my heart wouldn’t be convinced; the only thing my heart wanted was her.❞

This book was sweet, swoony, and just plain fun! All the relationships were well written and had so much depth. Dani's friendship with her roommate and coworker were fun and I loved how she was able rebuild family relationships as well. Alex's family dynamics and relationships brought depth to his character and allowed for more meaningful growth.

It was definitely more than a rom-com, but still had great tropes. The second chance romance was set up well. For this trope to be believable for me, their past conflict and the reason for their original break up needs to make sense and in this case, it was definitely was well written and set up the story well.

I really enjoyed experiencing the audiobook as well. The southern accents were perfect in bringing life to the characters and I loved that there were separate narrators for each POV.

I definitely recommend this for those looking for a fun closed for romance with well rounded characters and fun antics!

I loved all the characters so much, I'll definitely be picking up the rest of the books in the series!

Thank you to Jenny Proctor for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a sweet romantic comedy which I listened to over the course of a day (I listen on 2x speed). I enjoyed the voices of the narrator when it was on normal speed.

I love Duel POV. The main trope in this book was second chance love, with a hint of miscommunication. Alex and Dani's relationship is complicated however a lot of issues might have been solved if they just talked to each other.

The side characters really made the story and honestly I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Isaac is a sweet person and his sister seems to not notice this and assumes he is wasting his time.i can't wait to read more about Isaac house. I also loved Chase and Dani's relationship.

When I pick up a Jenny Proctor book I know I'm in for an interesting story which will keep me engaged and entertained

I received this audiobook book for free however all views are my own.

I really wish there was more to the story. The ending seemed so abrupt. There wasn't enough character OR plot development.

This book has serious “Sweet Home Alabama” meets “Devil Wears Prada” vibes. A cute story with a fun cast of characters. Perfect beach read.

I didn’t love the wrap-up conclusion before the epilogue, but I didn’t hate it either.

Great book

Loved this book! Great contemporary romcom full of insightful gems and a realistically imperfect relationship that’s still full of love
