boy do i love a good unreliability in a narrator. ylfing, our hero, is unbelievably naive and impossible. it’s so embarrassing that he spends the entire book being gaslit but it’s ok because i love him so so much. the footnotes are amusing to read, and make up for how ylfing tends to ramble. also extremely unsubtle capitalism bashing which is always welcome. ylfing carries the book’s weaknesses— which is why i’m not too eager to read the prequel since he won’t be there.
