Beautiful prose.  The story just carries you along.  Riveting.

i be crying!!!!

god this book is so fucking breathtaking. the writing is haunting and elegiac. it’s about queerness and love and grief, about innocence and innocence lost. within are revelations about the shame thrust upon us by the world, about the hurts we hide in the recesses of ourselves and the ways we pass those hurts onto others.

A memoir of gay identity and mental illness. Attractively written, as Hewitt is a poet, and often moving, but somehow overly familiar (which mostly comes with my having read, or seen, so many gay memoirs and narratives); and otherwise ultimately malnourishing in how it explores its darker themes.
