I thought he was just a nutjob. Who knew that he was such an eloquent writer? This book was a great introduction to Thompson and definitely made me want to read more.

It's pretty good in places, especially when he gets on a roll. But overall, it gets bogged down when he becomes a parody of himself.

Would be a 4 star, but a lot of the material is repeated in his other work. As I prefer some of his other collections, I would stay away from this one unless you're a diehard HST fan.
