Fascinating book for its cultural significance and its view of protofeminism. I do want to urge anyone considering reading it (women especially) to check they’re in a robust place before diving in. It’s fairly bleak and relentlessly so. Take as many breaks as you need and remember that hope is important to your well-being, so guard your sense of it!
