Can a cop and a bar owner have a happy ending after having a deadly courtship?

In the conclusion of the “Barb and Janet” series, the couple face the gauntlet of emotional challenges as they decide whether to move forward in their relationship or not. A high-school crush comes back into Barb’s life. Janet faces the biggest challenge of her career. Lisa’s ghost is still in between Barb and Janet. Everyone wants to give advice, but Barb is drowning in work at the bar or does she not really want to communicate with Janet? Then everything gets even more confusing when a little girl fires a gun.

Anne Hagan focuses on the emotional aspect of Barb and Janet’s relationship in Steamboat Reunion. I do not want to give too much away in my review, but it is a tough read because Barb’s issues are difficult and easy to imagine. The memory of Barb’s deceased wife, Lisa, is an open source of pain for Barb and therefore Janet. Janet’s idea is to face Lisa’s ghost head on and their past and hence the title of the book. Janet has the idea of bringing Barb back to her home with Lisa. Once again I do not want to give too much away as the book is mainly about Barb, Lisa, and Janet. Hagan handles the resolution, and that is not quite the term I am looking for, of one relationship and the growth of Barb’s soul with finesse. For those of you who have been on this journey with Barb and Janet, it is well worth the wait.
