"No matter what difficulties people face, they will always have the strength to overcome them. It just takes heart."

Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a captivating read that's equal parts cozy, emotional, and bittersweet. Set in a café in Tokyo that allows visitors to travel back in time, Kawaguchi lets his characters grapple with their pasts and hopes for the future. Despite its fantastical elements, the novel's exploration of love, loss, and the fleeting nature of time feels incredibly relatable, making it an exploration into the world of nostalgia and human connection.

This book is more like a collection of connected short stories than a novel, but it's enjoyable regardless. It's generally a very light read, but with a number of bittersweet moments that definitely choked me up a little. Overall a sweet read that just oozes charm.
