i wanted to like this so much more than i did. i remember LOVING blackout and feeling so endeared by all the characters. i think this just touched too much on the side of corny ... i also find it hard to read teen romance these days, because it is almost too pure and innocent and earnest for me. i think it was also difficult that i liked every love story except for sola and stevie's, which made it extra difficult since they're the center of the solar system of the story. i caught myself skimming entire sections o this already extremely short and quick read.

regardless, this was very sweet, and a nice pallet cleanser. definitely helps if you need to get out of a book slump.

The best way to describe this is if Love Actually was remade into a book with teenagers and made it gay.

This is a cute holiday romance, but it was hard for me to pick up.

While I was reading Whiteout, I really enjoyed it and most of the writing was great but the second I put it down, I never got the urge to want to pick it back up.

I am not sure if I really enjoyed the couple that was the main driving force to connect all the characters, but I did love E.R., Jordyn, Jimi and Ava's stories. I felt like those four characters had more interesting stories than Sola and Stevie.

Overall, I felt like if I had to choose between recommending Blackout or Whiteout, it would hands down have to be Blackout.

I absolutely loved Blackout so I was really looking forward to Whiteout. I had mixed feelings about this book and I don’t think it was for me. There were too many characters which I found it difficult to follow via audio. I found a few of the characters to be extremely unlikable. There were a couple of chapters I did like and wished those could be expanded. I felt that the story wasn’t as easy to follow along as Blackout and found myself skimming towards the end.

I loved the interconnectedness of these stories that capture the magic and uncertainty of young love- and experiencing a snowstorm in the South. It's heartwarming to see the group of friends come together in their own way to help their mutual friend get the love of their life back. At times a bit slow and repetitive, but overall I'd definitely recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more from these authors.

Usually I do not have this much trouble with many povs, but...yeah something did not click. Maybe it was all the different narrators? Maybe I can keep better concentrated when one person does all the voices. Now there were a lot of narrators and a lot of couples. I think maybe this one would have been better in print for me.

Right, smart girl messes up and now she has to get her girlfriend to forgive her. All her friends come to help. All while Atalanta is experience a snowstorm. People get stuck here and there and we get to see different couples and flashbacks of their stories. I did want more of a connection to the main person, now everyone had their time and for me that did not work as well.

It was good, but it could have been better for me. I just lost the connection

The GOATs are back with another collab effort for this queer, Black joy YA romance that I adored!
❄️
It’s almost Christmas and Stevie is grounded after screwing up big time when her (ex?)girlfriend invited her over for dinner to announce they were officially dating only to have it blow up in her face. Now Stevie has until midnight to pull off the biggest apology ever. With the help of her friends, can she make it to the deadline in the middle of an unprecedented Atlanta snowstorm?

This title was full of romance tropes that I adore, as we as great representation on the sexual spectrum. We need more books like these on our shelves & on our screens. I’m thrilled the Obamas chose Blackout to turn into a movie/show for @netflix and can only hope Whiteout gets the same love. This novel releases November 8. Preorder now!

CW: anxiety, drug use

3.5⭐️: I didn’t live this one as much as Blackout. There seemed to be soooo many more couples and the book seemed shorter (not sure how this is possible lol). Still loved the representation and all Black cast of authors and characters.
