I hate the toxicity, manipulation and misogyny and especially the ending. But somehow I did keep on reading

I decided to read this because it's being made into a movie, so I was curious about all the hype. It was definitely an . . . experience.
I think one of the main reasons this was popular at all (to no one's surprise) is because it started out as One Direction fanfiction, but I also think it's because it has an addictiveness to it. It's kind of like watching a soap opera in a way. You know it's not well written, and kind of crazy, but it can still be fun. That's what I got from it in any case.
The main relationship in this story, Tessa and Hardin (Harry), is an interesting one, to say the least. They start off disliking each other, but they seem to have a sort of pull towards each other, and end up fooling around, a lot. I personally think that their relationship can be pretty toxic at times. Hardin has such violent and aggressive mood swings constantly. He'll blow up at Tessa (never physically harming her, thankfully), for no real reason. Then he'll wonder why she's mad at him. But in the end she always seems to forgive him and go back to him. The author did marginally improve this aspect in the later chapters, and they started actually discussing things like civilized humans. The ending was pretty WTF worthy, and actually has me curious about the sequel. Maybe.

This book is not romantic, or beautiful; it's a book centered around domestic abuse. Both main characters are manipulative, and verbally abusive towards one another.
I wish I had never purchased this book, and I sincerely hope teens and young adults do not look to it as an example of healthy relationships - it is not. Its toxic.

This story really caught my attention. I did really enjoy it all the way through.
