She delves deep on C-PTSD—what it is, what its effects are, what are some treatments for it. She also touches on how race (unsurprisingly) has a role in trauma, in this case highlighting her Asian American experience.

I found reading this book very insightful. I liked how it was mainly a  memoir but then also touched on some statistics and science behind C-PTSD. There were parts that made me laugh out loud and others that I could see my own life in. As someone who works in mental health, it did make me angry when she talked about how none of the adults in her life (teachers) recognized that she was being abused and neglected, and that the one person who did, didn’t end up doing anything
