Second time reading this and gah spencer riggs is chefs kiss this book was such a fun time

Lubicie sporty motorowe?

I’ve really been on an F1 romance kick lately, and this one came highly recommended by a friend. I absolutely devoured it. It’s a forbidden romance between a race car driver and the team owner’s daughter, who’s just joined the team as head of marketing. I was hooked from the start.

I loved Riggs. He’s cocky and cheeky in the best way, but also genuinely sweet and really takes the time to see Camilla for who she is. Their dynamic had so much tension and angst, which I always love in a romance. This was my first book by K Bromberg, and it definitely won’t be my last.

My only tiny critiques: there were some time jumps in the story that felt abrupt and a little confusing. And while the ending was satisfying, it wrapped up very quickly considering the emotional weight of the reveal—I just wanted a little more time to sit in that moment. Still, such an enjoyable read. Would highly recommend if you’re into F1 romances!

And here goes another disappointing book. After my streak of great books in May I am officially in my hater phase. I am starting to doubt myself and feel like I am the problem but I will explain my reasoning.
I felt like it was time for another F1 romance and after careful research I decided on this one. So far, I loved all the F1 books I have read so I wasn’t too worried. Well, I feel like the story had so much potential but the author reduced it to non-communication disguised as banter and spice. And frankly, I don’t understand why she set up these deep and quite emotional themes and then continued to ignore them until 95%.
But let me tell you what the book is about. Camilla’s family owns an F1 team, which is run by the family for generations. Camilla walked away from F1 for reasons but as her dad is sick (
it was very obviously Parkinson’s but that isn’t explicitly said until a little later
), he wants her to come back and teach her everything so she can take over one day. Spencer Riggs is an aspiring F2 driver and nepo baby in the sport because his dad was a F1 driver, who died tragically in a race crash. The scene is the opening and it was heartbreaking to read how a six year old boy watches his dad die on track. Now, he always gets compared to his dad, while trying to make it on his own. Later, the team’s new driver crashes (he doesn’t die though) and Riggs is chosen to be the replacement.
One night, Camilla and Riggs meet in a bar and he hits on her as a dare. She thinks that he is actually into her and they kiss. They both like it but she finds out about the dare so they don’t exchange names or contacts. Needless to say they didn’t know who they were.
I was already confused that he wasn’t in F1 yet because the drivers in F2 are all quite young (most of them about 20 years old) but it doesn’t seem like they are that young. Then, they officially meet around 25% into the book which felt too late. She is still mad because of the dare but instead of real apologising and talking it out they fall into this arguing banter each time they talk to each other. I think they don’t have one serious conversation until 60%. And then when they start to talk seriously and dip into the emotional themes they shortly talk about it and then proceed to have sex. Considering that there are themes like SA, Chronic Illness and Trauma I just can’t understand that. Then, there is the problem that she is kind of his boss and they shouldn’t be together. This is not really resolved until 95% and not even really resolved. They were only outed to her dad and maybe the team but we have no clue how it was handled in public. Then the book kind of builds up to Riggs having to race the circuit where his dad died. Well, that was only brushed upon which was very underwhelming. In general, there was not a lot of racing or the atmosphere of racing. Most of the time they were at the headquarters somewhere in the UK and conveniently they were neighbours. Therefore, it felt like a neighbour office romance at times and I did not sign up for that.
Nonetheless the book was easy to read and I desperately hope that the next books are better.  Unfortunately the next characters were not really introduced at all. I think he was mentioned once because he started in front of Riggs in one of the races. Well, we’ll see.

☆Disclaimer: I did receive this book as an arc and my review listed below is my honest opinion.

-This was my first F1 romance. And I absolutely enjoyed myself. I loved getting both perspectives of our main characters. The tension and chemistry, the relationships throughout the book were done so good. This is my second book by this author and both books made me cry!!!!

-Riggs and Camilla really had me rooting for them. The slow burn and chemistry were worth the wait. Their relationship was beautiful and so real. I can’t wait to continue the future books and fall in love with more characters in this world.

-If you want to step into the world of racing with a slow burn romance, work place romance and some really memorable moments then you need to add this to your TBR.
