This book is one of my favorites. A slow-burn forbidden love between a royal and her bodyguard!? Are you kidding me!? An absolutely thrilling book that is very easy to get transported into. I found myself feeling the characters feeling, and rooting for them the entire time. I’m a sucker for slow-burn, and this book takes. the. cake. A seriously underrated read, I would highly recommend anyone (of age, of course) to read this book, regardless of your stance on smut (if you really hate it, it’s not hard to skip over and still enjoy the book!) Overall, a fantastic book with twists and turns but ultimately with a happy ending. If I could give it better than a 5, I would!

3.5⭐️A forbidden romance between a bodyguard and his client. A Duo POV.
A story about a bodyguard and a princess who tried to hide their attraction to one another… as time goes by, their relationships started to be less professional and more personal. A 10y gap; grumpy/sunshine trope. When they first met, Rhys taught that Bridget was a typical rich “bratty” girl that fakes her gods girl persona. But, the more he is around her, the more he sees how genuine she is. On the other hand, Bridget taught that Rhys was an a-hole with a stick up his ass.. but again she realizes that dark childhood and traumatic memories during his navy times…
At they bring comfort to one another, they develop feelings and fall in love. Unfortunately, her brother, the one who was raised and meant to be king, renonces the crown in order to be with someone who has no royal blood. Which will mean that Bridget gets the crown; something she never wanted to have: a life outside of the royal life and probably a life with Rhys. At the end, she someone how found a way and has a sex filled happily ever after with her man.

Unfortunately, this book didn’t meet the expectations I was expecting… I have read a few bodyguard-client book and this one was rather slow. The plot at the beginning was slow paced and it didn’t pick up until the ML(Rhys) took FL (Bridget) to Costa Rica as their ‘last’ days together before she takes position of Queen…
The attraction towards each other was at first sight. Rhys was fighting his feelings and hornless towards her, whereas Bridget tries to hide her attraction for him by trying to be friendly with him, like she did with her previous bodyguard. Obviously it didn’t work…
Also, there are kinda two parts in this book. The first was boring and in the second, the plot picked up. All took paced after her graduation… where FL got ML to open up more about himself and be more expressive… their were way to much filler about before her entering the path of Queen.
Ps: The author knows how to write the spicy scenes. Props to that!

TW: sexual explicit content; childhood trauma, past war trauma
