This was much better than Twisted Love.

I didn’t love the first 10%. The references weren’t my fave and I think the allusion to Twisted Love’s kidnapping scene was important but poorly executed. The book really picks up after the first 10%.

The indoor festival??? Are you kidding??!? The first hug??? “Come here princess??” Shut up I’m blushing. I am fully in love with Rhys and it’s totally fine.

Huang’s writing definitely improved in this one and it shows. You could really feel what Bridget felt, especially the loneliness. The spice also improved... like this is for real spicy. There’s also way more chemistry between Rhys and Bridget than Ava and Alex.

There are still some points where it could’ve been cleaned up. I still don’t love the use of flashbacks, but it was still better in Twisted Games. I also don’t like how the author explains what she’s alluding to and showing - let the reader recall the information and infer and understand. It makes the character development feel more natural. Also one more editing read through would’ve caught some very minor issues that did take away from the story for me.

The plot twist was surprisingly surprising. I really thought I new exactly how to would pan out and I didn’t!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I didn’t want to put it down (after the 10% point) and I really really love Rhys and Bridget. I’m excited to read Josh and Jules next!!

I almost didn’t go through reading this book, since I was somewhat unimpressed with Twisted Love (I rated it 3.5). But this book. I love Rhys and Bridget, as well as the writing and plot. I struggled to suspend disbelief with Twisted Love, but Twisted Games was the perfect mix of overcoming impossible circumstances and complex, lovable, characters.

This book is mostly a slow-burn, forced proximity, forbidden, spicy romance dusted with a little political intrigue. The characters are flawed but in a relatable, not annoying way. The diversity of the characters and the portrayal of the love interests' metal health issues leaves something to be desired. It is fairly well written and the plot, while not super thick, doesn't have any big holes.
