*Update - Reread 2/8/15*

Ty and Zane are definitely an established couple now, and it is fun, funny, and HOT to watch them interact. Despite their unspoken commitment to each other, there's nothing like a health crisis to bring out the best and the worst. This was also an acutely emotional read where the fear of losing the other paralyzes instead of propels.

What I love about this series are the small snippets of intimate, private moments that peek through. When Ty and Zane let their guard down, what they say and don't say are both equally heart wrenching and swoon worthy! There is just one thing standing in the way of complete happiness, and it makes you want to stomp your feet and scream. After [b:Touch & Geaux|16159276|Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run, #7)|Abigail Roux|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1353342638l/16159276._SX50_.jpg|22000005], this is next in line for the angstiest entry of the series, and it pulls no punches when it comes to the tough trials these two go through.

Keep going though! It's so worth it, I promise!

I don't love these books, but I was in the mood for some angst, and this was on a cheater listopia, so I decided to read it. It wasn't really the angsty cheating I was looking for, and the book was just ok, like the others. What I want to know is: does anything further happen with Nick, maybe something a little more angsty? What was really weird for me is Ty kissed him back and enjoyed the kiss. When he thought about it after, he thought it was hot, yet when he told Zane, they kind of just dropped it and never really talked about it again. I thought maybe Zane would be more upset or that they'd at least discuss it, so they could move beyond it. I think this is my whole issue with this series. There's always this teasing of angst, but nothing ever actually comes of it. These two never really talk about their issues, they just kind of ignore them, let things build to the point of a blow-up, but I don't feel like the issues ever really get resolved. And there's very little actual romance in comparison to the mystery aspects, and the mystery plot lines aren't really good enough to hold my interest.

son las tres de la mañana, ¿cómo pueden terminar el libro así?

*・゜゚↝

D & C is another classic installment in the Cut & Run series. Plenty of cute and humorous Ty and Zane interactions. A fairly improbable plot, but lots of things get blown up as a nice distraction. Baltimore is being beset by a series of bank robberies using simultaneously occurring bombings and riots to divide the city’s response. Naturally there is public outcry against the perceived incompetence of law enforcement so Ty and Zane get nominated to head the FBI department’s public relations outreach efforts – because they’re pretty.

First Ty gets run over by a Tank (well a very large firefighter named Tank) resulting in his getting hopped up on pain pills and Zane needing to take care of him. Then Zane gets blown up and Ty gets to return the favor (X 1000). Some of the story was difficult for me to read because of Zane’s condition (resulting from said blow up). It’s one of my phobias (sort of like the way Ty feels about small, dark spaces – only not based on personal experience).

The sex scenes –of which there is a decent amount – are really hot and yet sweet – which is weird because hot and sweet usually don’t go together for me – but the boys make it work. These 2 really have some great chemistry. Zane gets to give his first blow job ever – which seemed a bit underwhelming to me – but Ty was impressed with his efforts – which is all that matters.

Ty gets a visit from his Marine Recon team and decides to come out to them which makes for some interesting exchanges – with the exception of Owen – who turns out to be a homophobic jerk – but there’s gotta be one bad apple in every bunch. After he leaves the guys gossip like a bunch of old ladies at the senior center. There’s general agreement that Zane is a jerk for not returning Ty’s proclamations of love. Nick insists Ty could do better (cough, ulterior motives, cough), Digger wants to know if Ty is “the guy or the girl” and then concludes Ty must be the girl because Zane “seems like the ‘get on your knees, bitch’ type of guy” and Nick’s final assessment is that Ty is “a big ol’ screaming bottom”. So all in all the coming out thing went pretty well, except for the guys putting all sorts of doubts in Ty’s head about Zane’s “intentions”.

In the end everything wraps up neatly. Zane sees the light – literally – and tells Ty how he feels about him. But Ty has had past trauma triggered – repeatedly – and his PTSD is acting up – and now it’s his turn to have a meltdown.

Still just lots of fun.
