“It is easy to harp, harder to hope.” Amanda Gorman fiercely hopes on every page of this book. She skillfully puts into words the experiences many of us have had throughout the last two years. My mind has processed a lot while reading this on the couch with covid for the second time. Generations of historians in the future will treasure this book as it reveals the journey of many Americans who have held onto hope in 2020 and 2021. What a gift.
“Lost as we fell, there is no greater compass than compassion. We find ourselves not by being the most seen, but the most seeing…” -Amanda Gorman

I struggled to find meaning and sense in the text and imagery. I think this would be a great book to read with a study guide or as part of a class, and I may do that sometime. Since it was a Libby book that due and had to be returned, right now it's a DNF for me.
