What is a home? The answer is intangible, but apparently paintable. So good.

Inviting as an open door, intriguing as a set of stairs leading to unknown rooms, "Home" has many layers. Artist Carson Ellis paints a multitude of dwellings, real and imagined, asking us to envision who might live in them — or telling us who does. Eventually, she shows the reader her own house, and her worktable, and sharp-eyed readers will spot the objects that inspired her painted houses.

"Where is your home?
Where are you?"

Gorgeously illustrated and a book that will ring true for all readers. What is your home? What makes it your home? What makes home for you?
A beautiful look at many homes, real and made-up, heart-warming and funny.
Readers will return to the illustrations over and over and find a new detail to notice.

Beautiful and intricate illustrations to look at closely and discover all the details. I liked the idea of the book and the message about your home, but somehow the order of it and more whimsical connections didn't always make as much sense to me as a complete story. But it is a beautiful book that I would add to my classroom library and read aloud list.
