My god I wanted top like this more.

I loved the characters and found that anyone new introduced that was meant to player actually had some impact into the story. With such a bit cast through it did feel like we jumped around a bit.

I really liked the major plot, though I agree with complaints that this book could have been shorter. In saying that the length didn't take away for me.
The issue I had the most with this book was the lack of chemistry between Bryce and Hunt. As is, Hunt was not a favourite character of mine but at least in the previous book I could feel the sexual tension and chemistry between them. In this book it has all but disappeared, which makes it hard to believe and enjoy some of the written scenes.

The ending was 10/10 though. Hoping book 3 comes out soon.

I absolutely loved it!! Would be 5/5, but the last 150 pages or so had so much plot it was hard to follow.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a fan of lengthy books/series and world building, two things the CC books are known for.

Characters & World: I really like the characters in this story. SJM seems to love writing leads who make mistakes, but that makes the story more realistic. There are A TON of characters and types of creatures in this book, from the inner circle to quite a few side characters. At times, I felt overwhelmed by the number of characters who popped in and out of the story, but SJM does a good job of reminding you who someone is if it's been a while since you've seen them. Even though this book is known for its heavy world building, don't stress about knowing every detail. Things will still make sense! I'm looking forward to re-reading the CC books at some point because I know there are so many details I'll pick up on the second time through.

Plot: To be honest, the plot can feel a little convoluted at times, but it feels like this book and the first CC book are leading up to a lot happening in the next book.

Relationships: I'm a fan of the pairings in this book, but I think it's important to note that there are several explicit scenes.

Overall, I'm really liking the way CC is going. My one complaint, which is why I didn't give 5 stars, is that the POV switches way too much! I generally don't like POV changes, but I still read a lot of books with them. However, in this book, there were several scenes in which the POV changed throughout the scene. I don't think that's necessary at all, and sometimes I was left wondering what the change really added to the story, along with it being confusing.

I didn’t love the second book as much as the first one, but this was still a 5 star read. The story was a bit slow for this book, and I want to say this was more of a filler book (sets the story up perfectly for the next book though). There was a lot of character growth and you get to know some new characters as well. It’s a long book so come prepared (took me a week which is pretty slow for me). The ending was definitely worth it though! I need the third book now please!!!

Just a side note, if you haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses, I highly recommend reading that series before this book to better understand Sarah’s writing style as well as certain themes/nuances. I would say it’s not 100% necessary but it’s the best way to familiarize yourself with certain aspects present in her worlds (overall it makes the breakdown of this series much more interesting).
