Steve Cavanagh really knows how to set you up with these introductions.

This story was wild. I love the journey of thinking I have it figured out then doubting myself because everyone is suddenly looking sus and if Eddie Fly can question his gut, who am I not to.

Always a thrill going through this courtroom action. I love seeing the evidence unfold and cases unravel. I love the brilliance of it all. It keeps me on my toes. I have a running murder board in my head trying to piece the story together. This is adventure for me. This is where my mind comes alive.

Absolutely ploughed through this one, was gripped from the start. I will say, a lot of side characters with similar names made it tricky sometimes to keep track of who’s who but overall, I loved it.

After Eddie Flynn’s experience with the Russian mob I was intrigued to see what would become of the gritty lawyer.

The plea is a very well done and engaging legal thriller. I love that Cavanagh is able to devise such clever tale whilst tying in all the legal detail. At times I found myself trying to figure out where it was going to go and safe to say I didn’t get it right.

I liked the way that some of the revelations Eddie had were told and just left us as shocked as the next person. I found myself at times not to be able to put it down as it leaves you wanting more.

Can’t wait to continue on with the rest of the series.

This is a perfect court proceedings novel. I was hooked from the first page and read it in about three sittings. There is a lot of outside action so the courtroom scenes are in contrast quite tense and suspenseful. This is really good book if you like detective/mystery/criminal justice stories

I really liked The Defense, but I thought The Plea was even better! A billionaire social media founder was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. Eddie's wife was implicated in her firm's illegal activity. I thought it was a great way to get Eddie involved in the case - making him try to outwit his opponents to save his client and his wife.

While the Russian mafia wasn't my favorite in the first book, I did like the inclusion of the FBI and CIA in this one. The searching for evidence and the courtroom twists kept this book moving along, with me captivated the whole time.

I also really enjoyed how the book opened with a scene and spent the rest of the time leading right back up to that opening. It was very well done. I'm excited to read the next one!
