Didn’t see the twist coming. Kept me intrigued the whole time and was a page turner! Loved it!

The Housekeeper is reminiscent of The Girl on the Train, but dumbed down. The main character, Claire, is overweight, drinks too much, and lies to everyone, all because she was wronged in some way by the rich and beautiful Hannah. Her plot for revenge is unbelievable and made me think that all of the characters involved were rather ignorant. The ending is predictable. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was not a good fit. The main character is supposed to be 24 years old and the narrator's voice sounds at least twice that old. It made the story even more out of sync.

"Gone Girl" / "Girl on the Train" level plot twists! Read it.

This was a pretty standard thriller. A bit dumb in its simplicity. It was written in 2019 and is already starting to date badly with its “influencer” references which weren’t mentioned in the synopsises I read. The characters were unlikable. The ending was a bit cringe… I found the happy ending/ tidying up of all the loose plot points to be nauseating.
