Deeply ridiculous hilarious unserious serious book. Their sense of humor was right up my alley so cackling all the way through. The white hipster boy sheikh 💀 "is this what causes voluntary gym attendance" 💀💀 also exploring the real trappings of liberalism! There is such a relatable feeling (which i identify as a current nonprofit girly) of believing you're going to be in an influential role to realize you are effectively maimed of having power bc ts is performative and has no intention of actually changing anything. As a result just disassociating in your free time with the most brain numbing activities. Very liberal in lots of ways and expansive in others. Did not love the ending lol

I had high hopes for this book but was disappointed. The pacing was off and I felt like it played too much into stereotypes for certain characters. It was funny at times but was a struggle to finish.

This was such a page-turner and I loved the way Younis managed to blend humour and really serious topics. It was also great to chat about!

For me this was a 3.5 star read, laugh out loud funny with compassionate, thoughtful subject manner I thought this novel was sensationally researched and presented. I did feel the plot was slow moving, although only 320 pages I felt like not a lot happened until the last 100, the context and scene setting were important, but it did mean I lost momentum with this read. I really enjoyed the story, and the characters were complex and equal parts loveable and unlikeable.
