I liked the nuanced position this book took on most of its subjects. There would be times where I felt really put off by the main character's self-righteousness but it always ended up coming back around and being challenged which I thought was really well done.
But why, oh why, was there so much unchallenged fatphobia. Drew me out every single time.

A complex and important issues dealt with compassion, sensitivity and humour. I can’t remember when was the last time I laughed as much reading a novel! And yet never did it distract from the seriousness and trauma, nor was it a shortcut for writing complex characters. A testament to the author’s skillful writing.
The end felt a bit rushed, but I will still recommend this book!
