It was really tough to get into this fantasy. The enemies to lovers was weird because they hooked up even when they hated each other. I struggled to be pulled into the lust and love story as well.

Quite a good book and a fun introduction to Ruby Roe and their writing. This was a very interesting take on the enemies-to-lovers trope, as it was quite layered and not as one-dimensional as this trope typically is. It added much interest to the story, and it kept the readers on their toes about certain things. I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Quinn and Scarlet and how, even though their story was the main one in this novel, the other love interests were set up for the second book.

I’m gonna be so honest this book was torture I couldn’t even finish it. Every line was so predictable, it read like fanfiction, and the 1st person perspective made me SICK.

There is a lot of build up and a very quick resolution. Entertaining and easy read. Would have liked more showing than telling. Eg. Roe often (like ever other page) had the characters repeat “I hate her, but I can’t get of enough of her”
