I wanted to love this book so much, especially after all the positive reviews, but I could not get over how poorly it was written. A good enemies to lovers story is not told by spelling out that the characters hate each other every chapter. The characters all felt the same and I just honestly did not want to keep reading. Very sad to have not found my lesbian enemies to lovers fantasy dream book with this one.

First of all i love how they flip from i hate you to maybe i dont I’m confused to I love you. Its so natural and subtle in the way its written then not subtle at all because these two wear all their emotions on their face when they are together.

But one of the sweetest most favorite moments ive ever read is when they still “hate” each other but they hug so that Quinn can warm up. I mean CMON.

I loved Quinn so much. She was so protective about her family and Scarlett at the same time. On the flip side I love scarlett who is very morally grey except for Quinn. Willing to just give up everything for her.

I enjoyed the plot. Learning about the world was intriguing. I always love fantasy worlds and understanding the rules and lore and I think with this one it was very simple to follow but had a lot of depth and history.

I enjoyed this book a lot and i will be reading the rest of the series asap.
