Ok, THIS one I couldn't put down. No wonder everyone who read these as they came out was so anxious for Mockingjay!

Imagine surviving the hunger games, thinking you now get to live a better life in the Victor's Village, living your days never going hungry again (which is no way an equal compensation for the trauma and damage the games has caused)- thinking that you no longer have to worry about joining the Hunger Games ever again. WHEN suddenly, it is announced that the Quarter Quell will be getting tributes from the existing pool of victors, which is: female population = Katniss Everdeen. Talk about fucked up 😭 This book highlighted a aort of turning point for Katniss. She realized that she could no longer go on with the lovestruck facade she's been maintaining and decided to fight in her own way.

Let's talk about the other characters. I still love Peeta, he is so loyal, loving and charming. I agree with Haymitch that Katniss doesn't deserve him (for now at least). And FINNICK, mygod rereading this has made me an even bigger fan of Finnick. Honestly, Katniss and Peeta wouldn't have survived the first 2 days of the games if it weren't for him. Skill-wise, I think Finnick would have won the Quarter Quell and that speaks a lot of his talent and skill. It doesn't hurt that he's charismatic af as well.

Anyway, this series has always been the blueprint for the YA Dystopian category. But I would say, this has to be my favorite in the trilogy. Great character development from Katniss, amazing new characters, and such an intricate and suspenseful arena. A great read!

quite awesome actually. If not for the romance and Peeta's existence. I don't like Peeta.
Really unpredictable, but I really really really really don't like the ROMANCE!
