This was fun, especially the second half. There’s an (obvious) twist in this story and afterwards both plot and characters get more interesting, and the romance gets more of a sizzle. Still, there is a bit too much talk of grey eyes, but nevertheless at this point I wanted to keep reading. The way time slips are used to help Clementine deal with her grief is cleverly done.

i started this book not even 24 hours ago and i’ve already finished it and i am so disappointed because i will never get to read it again for the first time. i read this book hoping to kick my feet and giggle over a sweet romance and this book satisfied that craving and delivered so much more. craft-wise, the language is lyrical and poston’s descriptions  are never-ending morsels of beauty; i absolutely ate it up. i fell in love with every character throughout the story and the plot twists had me GAGGED,,,, i was reading like :0 for half the novel. as with any romance, the cliches are necessary and so is the overly done cheesiness in the novel. but this was also a moving reflection of grief and how it can feel like a ghost hovering over u, invalidated and begging to be acknowledged. but also how grief can motivate you to do better. i absolutely loved this book and i could talk about it forever and ever. (why don’t fictional men exist irl)

I cried so much reading this I couldn’t see at times 🤣 don’t know if I’m sappy or if it really was that emotional

Time travel books are so hit or miss for me, but this one was a hit. Half the time I’m caught up in the mechanics of it , but as the discussion guide at the end of the book highlights, this book is more about how we change over time, even in short intervals.

Ashley Poston is queen of top-shelf yearning and slow burn (guess the number of years, lol) but these books are actually not that spicy-usually a fade to black or descriptions of their emotions instead.

I also was discussing today with someone some of the career questions that Clementine was facing, so those themes were extremely relatable.

TW: detailed on page discussions of suicide and grief. The author highlights her experience in the notes at the end of the book, which I think was why it resonated so much.

An absolutely beautiful book. There are so many wonderfully funny and romantic moments, and also some heartbreaking ones. Poston writes about grief from her own experience for this story - would recommend looking up TW for those who may be affected by certain themes.

I think this is my new favorite book? It has funny and sad parts. I love the characters. When I first read the summary, I was a little iffy because I wasn’t sure about the whole seven years difference & how that would work out, but I really like how Ashley Poston handled it. I haven’t read her previous book yet, but I definitely will now!
