truly, i could not put this book down. it just got better and better the more i read. a wonderful and heartwarming story.
i loved the worldbuilding of the magic - just as you expect, and it aligns with all the familiar fairy tales, but with a touch of uniqueness to this fictional world.
the romance was also SO GOOD. ive never been into the romance genre, and i wouldnt say this is necessarily a romance novel, but the romantic plot was incredibly well done - relatable, funny, emotional, perfectly paced, and incredibly satisfying.
the representation in this book is lovely as well. the different races of the characters are simply stated, but the differences between each are acknowledged and deemed important at the same time.
anyone who loves love, magic, and silliness - and a happy ending - should give this book a read.

The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is I felt there were some pacing issues here and there that took me out of the story a little bit. Other than that, this story was a perfect found family, romance, fantasy novel which I am so glad to have found and read.

This was a very welcome softer read.  It had the found family, the magic, life passions/ambitions, the kids were cute, and let's not forget the swoony words!

I don't know if I would change the rating if I reread it but since it's the first in a series I will continue when more books are released, there's a chance.

A fun witchy modern tale about finding family and a little about processing trauma. This book with its quirky and diverse cast is hopeful and inspiring and makes you wish the magic was real.

This book was so cozy!! The characters were so loveable, the stakes low but high enough to be deeply invested.

The magic system is delightful, I loved Mika, Jamie, and everyone else. This is the epitome of found family and it made me all warm and cozy.

I do feel that I have to warn people, I did she'd a few tears during this book, and I had not expected it and was on a train. So be warned. (they were so worth it though).

It's also proof that the chipper protagonist gets with grumpy, mean, seemingly uncaring person with heart of gold is not a bad trope, if you actually make sure the person is just grumpy, does like the protagonist and has a heart of gold! Instead of just being awful to the protagonist all the time and then all of a sudden also being in love???

This was a super cute book about witches. I really enjoyed the main love story the most but Ian and Ken’s love story was also extremely sweet. I definitely love the character growth and the children are entertaining. I would’ve enjoyed more smut but I will live. Definitely a sweet entertaining book that I couldn’t put down and recommend.
