It was a good book but it was really slow. I wanted to keep reading the book to find out everything that happened.

A good book despite the topic (a shooter at a school). I wanted to take a peek at the ending, but was able to restrain myself.

Told from 5 perspectives, a lone gunman takes over a rural Iowa school during a spring snow storm . The whole town holds its breath while the story unfolds. The reader is left to question to what lengths would I go? Elementary student Augie will risk anything to keep her little brother safe. Mrs Oliver will sacrifice anything for her young charges . Parent Holly will face her past . Officer Meg will defy her superiors. And Grandfather Will will face his own fear of personal failure. From my perspective as a parent , I was left breathless, completely frustrated and helpless. I cannot even imagine being in that position. This author tends to leave some plot lines unresolved but if you like a character driven suspense mystery, take a deep breath and read this book.

This on is a little slower than her other two books. I am just now getting into it and I have about 1/4 way or more into it.

Another school shooting, told from the perspective of 5 individuals involved.

The characters didn't feel fully fleshed out apart from Mrs Oliver the teacher. Maybe this is because the author was once a teacher herself.

Didn't keep me engaged in fact I had to force myself to continue on.

The ending was predictable and seemed rushed. Felt like the author pulled 3 characters names out of a hat and did the same with their actions to decide what to do with them.

Would I recommend this book? No
Would I recommend the author? Maybe
Would I reread? No

This was a quick read for me. I was a bit hesitant about reading it since the story takes place in a school with a gunman but I read it for a book club read. The chapters were really short and switched between five different characters in a 8 hour time frame. Since I have been involved in lockdown drills at school lots of questions came to my mind while reading this what would happen if a real lockdown should really happen? I didn't figure out who the intruder was it was until about a chapter before it was announced. It did keep me reading to the bitter end. I haven't read any of the authors other books but will be checking them out.

I read a better version of this a few years ago called "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult. Quick and easy read, but nothing spectacular.
