I did not like Gale (katniess’ best friend)

Gender: Young Adult, post-apocalyptic, dystopian
Hero: Peeta
Heroine: Kataniss
Rating: 2.5*

I had to read this 'cuz it was the only book I had!

The story goes like this:D: Once upon a time there was this girl, she had a laptop. In one day her laptop starts acting out and she has to send it away(hello service). This wasn't such a great deal 'cuz the girl had a mp3 player and an e-book reader. She leaves home for a life of academics(this sounds so cool btw) and she takes her trusted "friends" with her. But in one cloudy evening he e-book reader decides that, well, he wants a vacation(or whatever) and so he gets f*cked up.

The only thing that saves this to become a horror story is that I had to collect some books that I bought as a present for my cousin. And you're right, those books were The Hunger games and so I started to read this, the 1st book.

I have to start my review(the actual one, and not my display of neurosis) witht he fact that I hate the names in this book. I even think I hate ALL of them, it is a precedent(I am sounding as one of my teachers OMG!). So the book now can get maximum 4 stars.

As I was reading my thoughts were like this: that Kataniss chick is not that bad. But in the end she seems to me like one of the most selfish characters I had the "pleasure" to read about. Everything has to be about her: how she has to work for her family, how her mum was depressed after her dad died and left everything to her to do, etc. The only bright spot about her is that she loves her little sister, everything else sucks! So we have a maximum 3 stars now.

The male lead, Peeta(if you pronounce it as I think you do this sounds like bread in a Romanian dialect) is such a sweet! He I actually like, as well as the designer(he was smart and funny and had a nice word to say to even the bitchy Kataniss).

And now about why I give it only 2.5*: since I read it in Romanian I think some things got lost in the translation, that's not the author's fault but since I am in a crappy mood, why not?! And the Romanian cover sucks! They even put the same cover on all the 3 books! I am horrified!

so much better than the movie. good god, took me less than a day to read because i literally couldn't put it down.

Lived up to the standards of the hype.

Took a while to finish this special edition because I stopped to finish the rest of the trilogy before I read the interviews.

A great entry into the series. I think I liked the characters best in this book even if that's just because they haven't experienced as many events that would develop them as later in the series. The story progresses at a really good pace without sacrificing much detail about the world or the characters.

4.25 STARS! I really enjoyed this. I think that watching the movies first just enhanced the book in such an awesome way. I could perfectly visualize the characters, and every scene from the movie. The book brought so much more entertainment, depth, and detail to the story than the movies (in my opinion). I was very pleased with this book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy, and seeing more of Katniss, Peeta, and friends!
