My kids loved this even though it was definitely scary. I thought it was a fun and interesting adventure, but didn't love the dehumanization of the "villain" character.

A fun read from the series and mysterious and creepy. Still nothing to really write home about. Again, I get that its for teens/young adults, but there are some banger YA books out there!

Anyway! Fun read, cool story, but for sure not going in the re-read pile, capiche?

Still think #2 is the best. This one kind of just happened, I didn't really focus on as many main events. Quite pleased I'm not reading any more of these for a while, as they don't grab my attention. I don't consider them full books. Found it totally weird how
Spoilerthose two people had 6 fingers,
and I'm totally over
Spoilerthe amount of Christianity referenced, as I don't believe in God, and also the amount of literal holes that people fall into.
But I do like how the characters are described, and the family element to the whole thing.

This book scared me to death as a kid. Something about being in the dark with someone or something unknown, maybe? I'd say this one, if I recall correctly, is the least Christianity-filled book of the Cooper Kids Adventures. Definitely more focused in on the mystery.

Another Cooper Kid Adventure. This one offers an interesting look at how legends of indigenous people could tie into Biblical truth.

Between this one and the first two books of this series the second is still my favorite. This one was still able to pull me in at times though.

The Coopers meet who was known as The High Priestess of Ha-Raphah, Mara the Sorceress. She challenged Dr. Cooper to two riddles. If he got them right she would spare his children’s lives. Of course because it was only a couple of chapters into the book he was able to answer them but if it had been me I wouldn’t have been able to. I stink at riddles. I thought they were pretty good ones. I won’t tell you the answers but here are the riddles: “It fills the heart, but craving still, man, though full, it cannot fill.” “It crushes the weak, it rules the poor; but he who owns it, it rules the more.”

There were good action sequences through out the book to keep the flow at a good pace. It never seemed slow or long. Dr. Cooper said something at the end that it says is from scripture and I wish it would have said exactly where. I guess that just means that I will have to do my own search but he said: “He who digs a pit will fall into it…He who rolls a stone, it will roll back on him.” It seems like God’s own way of saying you make your bed now you have to lie in it.

I would recommend this book especially for the age group it is actually meant for. You can always learn something from Frank Peretti’s writing.
