This was fun. Middle aged mom and teen child as our heroes? Didn't even know I wanted that. Time. Woah.

I did not like the characters. The daughter of the main character Grace is non-binary, only for the fact that we live in a woke culture, because the child being non-binary has no bearing on the plot. It is so glaringly obvious that the woman in this book were written by a man. I could not enjoy anything about the plot, which has a cool premise, because of how annoyed I was with every character in this story.
Such a bummer!

This book was a quick, easy read. The concept was interesting, but I felt like more could've been done with it. For most of the book, I understood vaguely what was happening based on the blurb on the book jacket - I almost knew too much and too little at the same time. And then everything is sort of wrapped up by a big bad guy exposition at the end. Overall it was fine, but it didn't wow me.

Although I enjoyed this novel, and I like reading a story about a hero at the FDA (they do so much to keep us safe), I found the story itself to be a little flimsy. The motives of the bad guy never quite ring true for me. It seems more like a collection of elements and character types mixed together than it does like a cohesive story. I found it fun to read while I was reading, but I don't think this one is going to stick with me.

Easy and fun. There were a couple secondary plotlines that were left unanswered but otherwise an entertaining story.

This was fine, but i have no attention span right now and this didn't grab me enough to finish before my library loan expired.

i love books about women. very diverse and realistic group of characters.

i enjoyed this book, but i was never really at the edge of my seat. i would stay in my car for a minute or two longer to finish a chapter at times, but was never disappointed to reach my destination (i listened in audiobook format). i was excited to be in the car and start listening to the book, but never had a strong desire to listen outside of driving. it was a good book, just not quite great for me.

i would still recommend it, but there are other books out there that just do it better.

It’s like dark matter x severance but if the characters were flat and the writing just not as thriller/ mystery/ exciting. Just a slow burn. Interesting idea, didn’t work in this execution for me.
