A fun and quick read, a little bit rom com, I enjoyed this book!

As a workaholic, I needed to read this. Really makes you think about what and where you spend your time and energy on.

Super fun, quick read. Highly enjoyable.

A delightful rom-com that also gives you a good glimpse into the inner workings of Silicon Valley jobs.

I chose this book as my Amazon First Reads selection for August and I am so glad I did. I enjoyed this book a lot.

Nicole Palmieri is a workaholic at a tech company in CA. She is trying to get promoted and schedules every hour of her day down to the minute. Then her best friend Parisa gets engaged and asks her to be her maid of honor over her 2 overbearing loud sisters. And she meets a guy that she likes, Brandon.

Nicole is the daughter of an alcoholic and so she rarely drinks and when she does, she goes overboard. She tries to take on too much at one time so she eventually has to prioritize what makes her most happy. While planning her best friend's Bachelorette weekend in Vegas, and meeting her goals for a project she got herself attached to in order to be up for a promotion. She goes as far as all nighters at work and keeping a toiletry kit and change of clothes at work. And for what?

The romance was sweet but not the focal point of the book, which was refreshing. This book is mostly about Nicole trying to achieve a work life balance with her history as a daughter of an alcoholic and work on her mental health. There were a lot of fun wedding related scenes along the way to balance out the serious parts. The only thing that annoyed me was Nicole's insistence that she loved working at a company that didn't value her outside her work function. The sexiness factor was slightly low was it was a fade to black scene. However I enjoyed this book a lot, especially the friendship between Nicole and Parisa. 4.5/5☆

Eh. 2.5 rounding up. Very slow and repetitive. Couldn't connect with the MC. I was a bit annoyed at her. Love story was practically nonexistent.

Cute, easy read! One to read while reading others.

This was great. I needed a light read, and at times this was not (there's a lot of discussion of alcoholism) but the main story of Nicole slowly realizing that her job is not going to be enough was great. I also loved Nicole's strong friendship with Parisa. I assumed this book would be about how her friend goes crazy with the wedding and Nicole is pulled in too many directions, but I liked how Rockaway focused on these two women who love and support each other and also say the hard thing to each other when the other one needs it. I would have loved a prequel to this one showing how Parisa met her fiancee.

"Life, Unscheduled" follows Nicole Palmieri. She works at a high-tech firm called Virtuality, as a user experience designer. Nicole keeps getting great ratings, but passed over for promotion. She finally meets with her boss to ask what she needs to do in order to get he long sought promotion. When her boss assigns her a new project that means that she's going to be working longer hours than ever, she starts focusing more on her schedule. Throw in Nicole's best friend becoming engaged and asking for her to the Maid of Honor, Nicole now has even more things to juggle.

I really liked Nicole. Her backstory and family history is a lot, but you can see why she and Parisa are so close. And I loved that Nicole isn't dependent on Parisa or vice versa. They just support each other throughout this book. When Nicole gets into Parisa's issues with her body due to an ex who used to berate her about how she looks, I felt Nicole's fury about anyone ever making Parisa think she's less than who she is. I did like some of the things that Nicole did though to deal with Parisa's overbearing sisters too.

There is a romance, but I thought the romance was not as important while reading. I liked the love interest, but he barely felt in this book.

The writing and flow were really good and I liked the push/pull between Nicole wanting to get ahead at her job and her trying to be there for everyone who needs her at the same time.

The ending was great!

I started to read this book in hopes for a palate cleanser and this exceeded my expectations.

Nicole is someone who focuses not only her demanding job but making sure that her whole life can be fit into her schedule. But there are some things that just won't fit into her perfect schedule.

Nicole struggles with balancing a demanding job and different relationships in her life. Nicole learns how to make time for her best friend Parisa who is dealing with a demanding family as she plans her wedding. On a night out with Parisa, Nicole unexpectedly meets Brandon who makes Nicole more open to rearranging a demanding schedule.

I really did enjoy this book---was it a bit predictable? Yes, but it was a great read for the summer time.
